One study found that chewing of food and can not significantly reduce the number of calories consumed at meals. And researchers found that when the participants chewed and consumed 11.9 percent fewer calories, regardless of whether they were lean or obese. A blood test taken 90 minutes after chewing food 40 times will also show participants with high levels of ghrelin are much lower than when chewed 15 times.

The results of this study have been published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
